FLAMENCO SOMATICS™

THE BODY AS A PLACE

OF POSSIBILITY.

Presence · Expression · Boundaries · Belonging · Receiving

Flamenco Somatics™ is an embodied methodology created by Azahara Sanhur, bringing together somatic practice, flamenco and her background in Social Science.

It approaches the body as a site of inquiry a place to explore presence, expression, boundaries, belonging and receiving through movement, awareness and lived experience.

This is not a dance class. It is a way of working with the body as a pathway to awareness, expression and possibility.

THE METHODOLOGY

WHERE SOCIAL INQUIRY

MEETS THE BODY.

Flamenco Somatics™ emerged from a path that moved from studying social structures to exploring lived experience through the body.

My background in Social Science, gender, family and relationships gave me a language for understanding how culture, power and social structures shape the ways we live, relate and understand ourselves.

Years of embodied practice through yoga, meditation, Womb Hara work and flamenco opened another way of investigating those same questions.

Flamenco Somatics™ brings these worlds together.

It moves beyond intellectual understanding and asks what becomes possible when patterns are encountered through movement, presence, rhythm, expression and relationship.

HOW IT WORKS

THE BODY BECOMES

THE INQUIRY.

PRESENCE
Coming into contact with what is here.

EXPRESSION
Giving form to what is felt, sensed and ready to move.

BOUNDARIES
Sensing where I end, where you begin, and what belongs to each of us.

BELONGING
Experiencing the right to take up space and inhabit our place.

RECEIVING
Cultivating the capacity to allow something to come towards us.

Flamenco becomes a language of inquiry through rhythm, posture, gesture, weight, sound and relationship, lived experience becomes something we can encounter through the body.
